SEND

SEND – supporting pupils with special educational needs and disabilities

Some of our pupils may need a little extra help and this is where our Special Educational and Disability (SEND) support comes in. Each child with additional needs is offered different support tailored to meet their needs. Staff at Woodthorpe work closely with our children, their parents and, where appropriate, outside agencies, to develop each child’s individual support package.

Our SEND Report outlines how we identify support and monitor the progress of our children with additional needs.

If you have any questions or concerns please contact our Special Educational Needs Coordinator Mrs Elsworth, who will be more than happy to help.

What should I do if I have a complaint about my child’s SEN support?

Complaints about SEN provision in your school should be made to the SENCO in the first instance:

  • Mrs Elsworth: Assistant Head / SENCO

She will endeavour to resolve any difficulties. If this does not resolve their concerns, parents are welcome to submit their complaint formally.

Formal complaint

Formal complaints about SEN provision in each school should be made to the Executive Principal, Mr James McGann, in the first instance. They will be handled in line with the Trust’s complaints policy which can be found on Our Policies page.
